    BUILDING DEPARTMENT
    PROCEDURES

    Obtaining a permit takes time.

    For any and all permits, an application must be submitted along with all necessary supporting documents and information. There is a $25.00 fee for each application.

        Some applications must be sent to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). This is a two month process: The appeal application must be submitted with all necessary documents and information prior to the 20th of the month. Your appeal will be on the agenda for the following month.

    If accepted, your application is referred to Onondaga County Planning Agency for review.  The local public hearing for your application would be the following month. (For example, submit your application by January 20th, the ZBA accepts your application at their February meeting and refers it to Onondaga County Planning.  At the March ZBA meeting, your application will be discussed in a public hearing.)

        You are responsible for informing your immediate neighbors of your plans for your property and that they may attend the ZBA session to be heard. Proof of this notification must be provided. There is a $50.00 fee for each appeal. If you receive approval from the ZBA, the approval must be processed by the Building Department before your permit will be issued.
